In late March and early April 1939, British authorities deported Jews who had fled Czechoslovakia following its occupation by Nazi Germany. These individuals were turned away due to “improperly documented paperwork.” During Hitler’s regime, the United Kingdom denied entry visas to approximately 500,000 Jewish refugees.The photograph linked to this event later became known as “Deportation to Death.”
